The healthiest thing to do when you lose a tooth is have it replaced. Otherwise, you risk problems with biting, chewing and speaking, headaches, muscle pain and an unattractive appearance. Fortunately, there are many comfortable, secure, natural-looking types of dental implants for tooth replacement.
Dental implants serve as the base for many tooth-replacement options, including bridges, dentures and individual artificial teeth. Implants are surgically implanted in the jaw to provide a comfortable, secure fit and a natural look.

Bleaching products brighten teeth that have been stained or darkened by food, tobacco use, age or injury. There are a variety of in-office and take-home whitening products to reduce or eliminate such stains. In-office bleaching, also called chairside bleaching takes place over a series of one-hour appointments at your dentist's office. First, your teeth will be examined and cleaned to make sure there are no cavities, loose fillings, gum problems or other issues that may be exacerbated by the bleaching process. A lightening gel is applied to the teeth and an ultra violet light is shone on the teeth to facilitate the process.
The take home whitening process includes fabrication of a custom fit tray for your teeth, and then the bleaching gel, a hydrogen peroxide solution, is applied to your teeth in the tray. The tray is worn for a two hour interval everyday for two weeks. It's simple, easy and effective.

Crowns are used to strengthen and improve the shape, size or color of teeth. They can support broken or weak teeth or those with large fillings; provide a smooth, strong, attractively contoured surface for stained, misshapen or otherwise abnormal teeth; and aid in the implantation of bridges and other implants.
Bridges are natural-looking tooth replacements which help maintain facial structure, reduce stress on the jaw and fill in the gaps caused by missing teeth. Fixed bridges are cemented to the existing teeth and do not come out. |

Patients who have lost their natural teeth due to decay, periodontal disease or injury can suffer from related problems including further decay, difficulty eating and speaking, and drooping of facial muscles. Full and partial dentures replace the missing teeth both aesthetically and functionally, providing support and restoring the smile. Full (complete) dentures are used when all of the natural teeth have been lost, while partial dentures fill in the gaps between natural teeth. Cleft palate defects can occur during development of the fetus. Initial repairs are completed within the first few years of life however there can be residual spaces left or tooth absence due to the size of the defect.

Advanced deterioration of one's teeth usually creates additional problems besides loss of tooth or tooth structure. Often, periodontal surgery is necessary to reposition bone and gum tissue and to create a new foundation for the restorations. Additionally, orthodontics may be necessary to move the teeth into the most favorable position to anchor new teeth. Many teeth at this point may have had root canal therapy and if they show signs of failing, may need retreatment by a root canal specialist.

Older patients often suffer from a number of dental problems, including discoloration and weak or missing teeth.
Most patients are on medications which can adversely dry the mouth causing rampant root decay. There are many treatments available for problems that affect the elderly, including bleaching and cosmetic restorations for stained or misshapen teeth; dental implants, dentures and partial dentures to replace missing teeth; and fluoride applications to remineralize exposed root surfaces.
There are also special mouth rinses designed to lubricate the oral cavity and counteract the dry mouth syndrome.
